Maurice Benard is an American actor best known for playing Michael “Sonny” Corinthos Jr. on the ABC daytime drama General Hospital, a role he began in 1993 and for which he has won three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He has also become a prominent advocate for bipolar-disorder awareness. [2]

Benard began his television career on All My Children, where he played Nico Kelly. After moving to Los Angeles, he appeared in Lucy & Desi: Before the Laughter and Ruby. [2]
